Reiki (Japanese: 霊気) means mental/spiritual, also universal life energy and is a made-up word from the terms rei (spirit, soul) and ki (life energy). Ki corresponds to Chinese Qi (Chi), which, according to the Taoist view, permeates everything (Qi Gong – Qi work), as well as the Hindu Prana (In yoga, working with breathing serves as access to prana, the life energy, or its manifestation in the body).

It is taught in three degrees (according to Usui Mikao, the founder and Buddhist monk). With each initiation into the respective degree the energy is strengthened. Usui Mikao is said to be a Tendai Buddhist* experienced a satori enlightenment experience from a figure of light during a fasting meditation, from which he developed the spiritual healing system Usui Reiki Ryōhō. It is based on the five concepts, principles or rules of life that underpin today's Reiki teachings.

  • Don't worry today
  • Don't worry today
  • Be grateful today
  • Work hard today
  • Be kind to those around you today

According to the founder, only people who are prepared to dedicate their entire being to Reiki are allowed to teach Reiki. With the third degree you realize your mastery and are able to initiate other people into Reiki. Today, three years of practicing Reiki is also considered a qualification for teaching and initiation.

Healing through Reiki occurs when the person giving Reiki visualizes special symbols and becomes a channel through which the energetic, subtle life energy is transferred to the other person, among other things through the laying on of hands. This energy can be strengthened by using cultic formulas (Kotodamas (similar to mantras) or secret signs. This can also happen without the recipient's knowledge, for example during a massage.

Tendai Buddhism* (Japanese: 天台宗) is a school based on the Lotus Sutra, one of the best-known sutras (memorable, short, verse-like teachings or a collection of those from ancient and middle Indian literature) of Mahayana Buddhism.

The content of Buddhist teaching is the endless, suffering cycle (Samsara) of all unenlightened beings of birth and rebirth.

What does the Bible say?

As pleasant as the above five rules of life sound, as noble and desirable to adhere to, their context of Buddhist teaching, which is based on constant effort towards self-salvation, which at the same time can never be achieved unless one becomes enlightened, is misleading and can therefore escape the endless path of suffering to Nirvana.

The otherworldly, life energy-giving spiritual being of Reiki replaces the Holy Spirit of God and the self-redeeming liberation from guilt and God's forgiveness.

In Colossians 2:8, Paul warns against empty deception through human wisdom based on human traditions, cosmic powers, rather than on Christ. For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead. In Him, who is the head of all spiritual dominion and power, you have everything.
This means that people do not have to look out for various gods or beings of any kind and contact them in order to receive life energy. He only needs to claim the fullness of God to have it all!

And John warns in 1 John 4:1-3 “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are of God! For many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2 By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God; 3 And every spirit that confesses not that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the [Spirit] of Antichrist, of which you have heard that he is coming; and now he is already in the world.“

Exodus 15:26 says “... I am the LORD, your doctor!” and John 6:47 says “Verily, verily, I say to you, whoever believes in me has eternal life.

So what does a person want more than to have a healthy and eternal life - just through simple faith in Jesus?!

Conclusion

Many roads lead to Rome, they say. But only one leads to God: faith in Jesus Christ.

Isn't that way too simple? Certainly, we are used to the fact that it is simple for others, but it has to be complicated if it is to be good. Incorrect!

To quote Matthew 18:3: “... and said, Verily I say to you, unless you repent and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.

Yes, we can and should ask Jesus in childlike faith, in the certainty that he will hear our request and help us. His help is always timely, although not always as we imagined it:
The request for the famous six correct numbers in the lottery will probably be. remain unheard, but the request for rescue from acute danger will be fulfilled immediately!

Asking someone for something isn't 'in', after all it's always said, 'The man is the man!' God lets us have our own way, he doesn't impose himself. He has His way for us, but leaves us the choice to follow Him or go our own way.
As if God knew about our dilemma, He encourages us through Matthew (7:7) and Luke (11:9) alike, saying: “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and it will be opened to you!

Do we want to continue asking ourselves in vain, or would we not rather accept His help and follow Him?!
