SmartHome uses devices, actuators and sensors to record and process states. They have a built-in radio module that has an individual and unique identifier that makes it clearly identifiable.

In order for devices to communicate with a control center, they must be made known to each other.

To do this, the “Teach device” button must be clicked on the right in the RaspberryMatic user interface.

A new window is opening up. If the device to be trained is not a Homematic HmIP component, then click on the “Teach in HM device” button, otherwise click on “Teach in HmIP device”.

You now have 60 seconds to press the learn button of the respective device, which then sends a radio telegram to the listening control center that contains your own identification code and thus makes itself known to the control center.

If this learning process was successful, the device will now be found in the inbox, which is indicated by the label “Inbox (1)”.

The newly registered device is listed in the inbox and can be configured by clicking on the right “Set” button.

Unlearn/delete devices

In the event of an error, if a device needs to be replaced and is still accessible from the control center, it can be unlearned.

To unlearn, call up the “Devices” overview in the “Settings” menu and click on the “Delete” button on the right.

In the following dialog you can now remove the device from the control center by clicking on the right “Delete” button.

If the device is no longer accessible, after the unsuccessful attempt to delete it, you must select “Remove from the control center” in the dialog box and permanently delete it by clicking on the “Delete” button.
