Hybrid power generator

A hybrid power generator usually works with gasoline and gas. Most mobile homes in Germany have diesel engines. However, diesel generators are heavy and expensive, and too powerful for use in a motorhome. Gasoline, well, hardly any canister is really odor-proof, it remains gas.

Every motorhome carries gas bottles for the heater, refrigerator and gas stove. So the ideal solution is the gas-powered electricity generator.

Hybrid power generators are available from around 2 kW to 10 kW. We have the KS3900EG with 2.7 kW (2.4 kW^*) Rated power and electric start. A very compact version with 1.8 kW (1.6 kW^*) Rated power also fits in the smallest motorhome. It should be noted for all gas generators that the nominal power is the same when operating on gas^* 10% is lower.

Installation

The volume level for the miniature version is only 6 dB lower (87 to 93 dB). If you still have a little (more) space in the rear garage, you can integrate the KS3900EG into a housing made of screen-printed board, install two ventilation grilles in the outer wall, install a cross-flow fan behind the upper one with sufficient delivery volume to dissipate the waste heat and run the exhaust pipe through the floor underneath Drive vehicle.

For mechanical decoupling, the rubber buffers on the frame can be placed on sound-absorbing rubber strips again. To prevent slipping while driving or during braking maneuvers, a “bracket” mounted between the two lower crossbars of the frame is helpful. Its contact surfaces with the tubular frame of the generator should also be decoupled with rubber strips.

In this way, the sound insulation is very good and the noise pollution is reduced to a very tolerable level, both inside and outside the motorhome.

Since the exhaust gases are odorless, any possible nuisance is eliminated.

Gas supply

The gas supply is provided by two 11kg bottles with the usual Duomatic and a corresponding gas-tight wall duct to the generator housing. Attach two large ventilation grilles with fly protection below the bottles to allow any escaping gas to escape and prevent unpleasant events.

Connection to the internal AC network

The electrical connection to the motorhome AC network is made via an additional 10A circuit breaker and a mains priority circuit. This switches off the generator output as soon as shore power is connected.
