Four monitors on the Mac Mini M1 / M2

Some people need more than one monitor on their Mac Mini, be it for video editing, trading or layout and design. Four monitors are used here to provide a more comfortable overview while driving via three cameras, analogous to the rear-view mirrors (left, right and rear), because they can be swiveled and zoomed. The fourth monitor serves as a work monitor for the passenger, for whatever task.

Monitor und DisplayPort-Umsetzer

These are the monitors from UPERFECT 1920x1080 Full HDthat over two StarTech.com USB to Dual DisplayPort – Mini Docks connected via HDMI and connected to the Mac Mini using USB-A connectors.

Treiber

‚Eigentlich‘ soll der Umsetzer von USB auf Display Port ohne jegliche Treiber auskommen. Das erweist sich jedoch als Trugschluss. Ohne Treiber erfährt Mac OS X nichts von den via USB angeschlossenen Monitoren.

Deshalb benötigt man diesen Treiber, nach dessen Installation die Monitore sofort erkannt und angesteuert werden.

Betriebsysteme

Getestet sind OS Monterey 12.6 bis Seqoia 15.3.2.

Power supply

Die Stromversorgung, u.a. des Mac Mini und der vier Monitore, kann unterbrechungsfrei über eine APC UPS BR1500G-GR oder einen Victron Wechselrichter 24/500, bzw. 12 oder 48 V DC Eingangsspannung, je nach verbauter Batterien, erfolgen.

Die Batterien können via Landstrom mittels Victron-Ladegerät und / oder Lade-Booster während der Fahrt gepuffert werden.
