Some people need more than one monitor on their Mac Mini, be it for video editing, trading or layout and design. Four monitors are used here to provide a more comfortable overview while driving via three cameras, analogous to the rear-view mirrors (left, right and rear), because they can be swiveled and zoomed. The fourth monitor serves as a work monitor for the passenger, for whatever task.
Monitor and DisplayPort converter
These are the monitors from UPERFECT 1920x1080 Full HDthat over two StarTech.com USB to Dual DisplayPort – Mini Docks connected via HDMI and connected to the Mac Mini using USB-A connectors.
Drivers
The converter from USB to display port is supposed to work without any drivers. However, this proves to be a fallacy. Without drivers, Mac OS X is not aware of the monitors connected via USB.
This is why you need this Driversafter the installation of which the monitors are immediately recognized and controlled.
Operating systems
OS Monterey 12.6 to Seqoia 15.3.2 are tested.
Power supply
The power supply, including the Mac Mini and the four monitors, can be supplied without interruption via a APC UPS BR1500G-GR or a Victron inverter 24/500or 12 or 48 V DC input voltage, depending on the batteries installed.
The batteries can be buffered via shore power using a Victron charger and / or charge booster while driving.
