Baviera. A sua fam\u00edlia vivia em condi\u00e7\u00f5es modestas.<br>O pai <em>Xaver<\/em> Weber, a m\u00e3e <em>Rosina<\/em> cuidava dos muitos filhos. Como era comum nas fam\u00edlias de oper\u00e1rios rurais da \u00e9poca, Sebastian ajudava desde cedo, como pastor de ovelhas e aprendiz de tecel\u00e3o, \u2013 dificilmente se podia pensar em educa\u00e7\u00e3o escolar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Apesar disso, ele perseguiu persistentemente o desejo de se tornar padre. Aos 23 anos, o capel\u00e3o possibilitou-lhe <em>Matthias Merkle<\/em> a entrada tardia no liceu, e Kneipp recuperou o que outros tinham aprendido em crian\u00e7as. A partir de 1848, estudou teologia em Dillingen e Munique.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Durante os estudos, ele contraiu tuberculose. Em busca de al\u00edvio, deparou-se com um escrito do m\u00e9dico <em>Johann Siegemund Hahn<\/em>, que atribu\u00eda \u00e0s aplica\u00e7\u00f5es de \u00e1gua fria um efeito curativo. Kneipp experimentou o m\u00e9todo em si mesmo, com banhos no Dan\u00fabio, e atribuiu a sua recupera\u00e7\u00e3o a esta pr\u00e1tica. Em 1852, foi ordenado sacerdote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ap\u00f3s alguns anos como capel\u00e3o, em 1855 tornou-se confessor no convento das Dominicanas em W\u00f6rishofen. Ali, desenvolveu ainda mais as suas aplica\u00e7\u00f5es de \u00e1gua e tratou cada vez mais doentes das imedia\u00e7\u00f5es. A aflu\u00eancia cresceu continuamente e, a partir da d\u00e9cada de 1880, Bad W\u00f6rishofen desenvolveu-se como um conhecido balne\u00e1rio. Kneipp tornou-se p\u00e1roco em 1881 e foi nomeado monsenhor em 1889.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Faleceu a 17 de junho de 1897, aos 76 anos.
